Done Some Serious thinking
I had a friend over recently and we were talking about missionary work and it got me thinking. Theres this guy, you may have heard of, named Tony Campolo who said "I don't know how your theology works, but if Jesus has a choice between stained glass windows and feeding starving kids in Haiti , I have a feeling he'd choose the starving kids in Haiti." When I read this I thought to myself "How self centered am I!" I honestly can't believe how little I've done with my life. Tony also says "Don't be satisfied with just pumping blood." And I'm not. I'm sick and tired of all this meaningless crap I have that I could use to do so much more. If I won the lottery, would I spend it on myself, or do something drastic that could change the lifes of so many people. When I look at people like Bono or our boy Tony I just find it upsetting that I can't... that I don't do something a little bit more.

Ben's growing up.
who said you can't... it's in your hands little one... the one who charge, are not necessarily stronger or more capable, they were willing, to do what it takes to do what had to be done... don't envy them, because if i know one thing it's that:
God doesn't ask you to be strong, capable, good at it or anything, he only asked you to be willing... hope that helps love shannon
You are already doing amazing things, and the best is yet to come.
Can a 63-year old man, 33 years into a walk with Christ, give you some advice, Ben? I'm presently involved in three ministries concerning a Rescue Mission, Youth Detention Center, and a Special Ed unit at the local elementary school. These things aren't stripes on my sleeves; just where life has brought me. Service unto the Lord is not about how big an event you take part in, nor even how often. You "live for Christ" and stay "on call" for the Holy Ghost. Never lose the feeling that you're not doing "enough", without thinking that you have to do it all. God expects you to do only what His reality asks of you; and, on a daily basis, it's usually as "insignificant" as being kind to someone else along the way. I came here via your Dad's blog; and, in reading him, I'd say you have some excellent tutorage there in your own home. Peace, my friend....
you are already doing muxh more then you may know or even realize.

What Jim said.
Good desires. Start where you are. Use what you've got now to do what you can now. The Lord will lead.
